Pharmacist – Acute Care

About the role
Doctors Hospital of Laredo is seeking a dedicated pharmacist to join its acute‑care team. The role involves preparing and dispensing parenteral and enteral medications for patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics, while ensuring safe and cost‑effective drug use.
Key responsibilities
- Process orders for parenteral and enteral medications and other pharmaceuticals according to hospital standards.
- Promote rational drug use and provide expert pharmaceutical information to physicians, nurses and other health professionals.
- Monitor drug therapy, conduct drug utilization reviews, and manage adverse drug reaction reporting.
- Support nutritional support programs and respond to cardiopulmonary arrest situations as needed.
- Lead and guide subordinate pharmacy staff, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (Pharm D preferred).
- Minimum five years of progressive experience in an acute‑care pharmacy setting.
- Ability to serve as a lead worker and supervise pharmacy personnel.
- ACLS certification to be obtained within one year of hire and maintenance of all required licenses.
- Demonstrated knowledge of USP 797 core skills and clinical pharmacy principles.

- USP 797 compliance.
- Clinical pharmacy practice including drug therapy monitoring, drug information, and drug utilization review.
- Pharmacokinetics and nutritional support.
- Adverse drug reaction monitoring and cardiopulmonary arrest response.
