Periop 101 Registered Nurse 3 – Specialty

About the role

The University of Miami UHealth/SoLé Mia is seeking a full‑time Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN 3) to join its specialty team. This position supports high‑quality academic medicine across multiple specialties, including cancer, eye, urology, neurology and neurosurgery.

Key responsibilities

• Assess assigned patients, document nursing care, and report changes in condition and vital signs.
• Modify treatment plans based on patient responses, physician orders, and clinical assessments.
• Review and evaluate diagnostic tests, consulting with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments, considering age and cultural factors.
• Provide psychological support and maintain a compassionate environment.
• Administer medications and perform patient tests within scope of practice, maintaining accurate records.
• Communicate care plans to patients, families, and team members while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
• Assist with discharge planning and prioritize assignments to deliver superior patient care.
• Operate medical equipment safely and serve as a preceptor for new staff.

Required profile

• Current Registered Nurse license in Florida.
• Experience in perioperative or specialty nursing settings.
• Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Strong communication skills and adherence to university policies.
