Per Diem Staff Physician – Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a Per Diem Staff Physician specialized in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to provide comprehensive medical care to patients. This position involves direct patient treatment, collaboration with the surgical division, and participation in resident and student education.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans addressing biological, psychological, and sociocultural aspects.
• Perform physical assessments and prescribe appropriate medical treatments and clinical drugs.
• Gather and document accurate patient information from records, interviews, and interdisciplinary consultations.
• Report to the responsible physician, adhere to policy co‑signatures, and communicate hazardous or unsafe conditions.
• Report quality‑assurance incidents, including medication errors, following department guidelines.
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with federal and state regulations.
• Provide clinical care across the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery and collaborate with division physicians.
• Supervise residents at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System and teach students in elective programs.

Required profile

• Completed a CODA‑accredited advanced education program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
• M.D./D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree.
• Board‑certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) or eligible for certification.
• Licensed to practice dentistry in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Broad experience in oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures.
