Per Diem Physical Therapist – Miami

About the role

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Miami is seeking a Per Diem Physical Therapist to provide therapy and wellness services to patients with functional impairments. This position supports patients in restoring function, improving mobility, relieving pain, and preventing permanent disability.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate new patients, set goals, and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Document evaluations, treatments, and patient interactions daily.
• Educate patients and families about conditions and home exercise programs.
• Communicate with physicians and staff to obtain information and adjust treatment plans.
• Use treatment tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Maintain productivity and adjust schedule as needed for clinic demands.
• Participate in quality and safety improvement activities.
• Supervise and direct assistants and support personnel.
• Develop, monitor, and adapt learning programs for patients.
• Follow university and unit policies and protect university assets.

Required profile

• Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (or related field).
• Valid State of Florida Physical Therapist license.
• No prior experience required.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with office software and relevant computer applications.
• Competence in using physical therapy treatment tools and equipment.
