Per Diem Pharmacist

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a Per Diem Pharmacist to support medication preparation, dispensing, and patient counseling within its academic medical center. This position works on‑site in a fast‑paced pharmacy environment, ensuring safe and accurate drug delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Compound, mix, package, and label pharmaceuticals in compliance with policies and legal requirements.
• Dispense prescribed medications, calculating dosages and verifying ingredient accuracy.
• Review prescriptions for correctness, suitability, and potential drug interactions.
• Provide drug information, dosage guidance, and storage advice to patients and healthcare staff.
• Maintain pharmacy records, inventory logs, and controlled substance registries.
• Analyze prescription trends to monitor patient compliance and prevent misuse.
• Assist customers with selection of medication brands, medical equipment, and healthcare supplies.

Required profile

• Pharm.D. degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
• Current, active pharmacist licensure in good standing in the State of Florida.
• Minimum of one year of relevant pharmacy experience.

Required skills

• Pharmacy compounding and dispensing.
• Prescription verification and drug utilization review.
• Medication dosage calculation.
• Knowledge of controlled substance handling and record‑keeping.
