Per Diem Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Bascom Palmer Eye Institute seeks a Per Diem Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to provide anesthesia services for medical and surgical procedures. The CRNA will work closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre‑ and post‑anesthesia patient visits and document anesthesia notes.
• Review medical histories, evaluate patients, and determine appropriate anesthesia methods.
• Interpret diagnostic tests such as radiographs and electrocardiograms.
• Administer and monitor local, intravenous, spinal, or other anesthetics.
• Manage airway and pulmonary status using techniques like endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation.
• Monitor vital signs and respond to emergencies with airway management, fluid/drug administration, and life‑support techniques.
• Oversee patient recovery and provide immediate post‑operative care.
• Develop anesthesia care plans and adhere to university policies.

Required profile

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Valid State of Florida APRN license.
• BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Strong learning agility, teamwork, and communication skills.

Required skills

• Airway management and endotracheal intubation.
• Mechanical ventilation and respiratory therapy.
• Administration of local, intravenous, spinal, and other anesthetics.
• Patient monitoring (vital signs, oxygenation, hemodynamics).
• Interpretation of radiographs and electrocardiograms.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).
