Pediatric Stepdown RN

About the role

The M40 Pediatric Stepdown Unit at Cleveland Clinic provides care for children with congenital heart disease and other complex medical needs. This full‑time RN position works a day/night rotation on 12‑hour shifts, supporting both pre‑heart‑transplant and post‑surgical patients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients.
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and their families.

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program (Diploma, ADN, BSN).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification for critical‑care areas (required within first year).
• At least one year of acute‑care RN experience (military RN experience considered).
