Pediatric Nurse Practitioner – 3rd Shift Hospitalist

About the role

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will join the 3rd‑shift hospitalist team at Huntsville Hospital, delivering comprehensive direct patient care to children and adolescents. The role combines clinical practice with scholarly activities such as education, research, and quality improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain detailed patient histories and perform complete physical examinations.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and screenings.
• Diagnose illnesses, prescribe medications and other treatments, and develop care plans.
• Provide health maintenance, patient and family education, and counseling.
• Participate in staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Master of Science in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) from an accredited program.
• Current NP licensure in Alabama and successful completion of a national certification exam.
• Preferred Pediatric Nurse Practitioner national certification.
• Minimum three years of full‑time pediatric RN or CRNP experience preferred.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required by end of orientation).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (required within six months of hire).
