PCU RN Night Shift Contract (PRN)

About the role

AdventHealth in Daytona Beach, Florida is hiring a Part-Time Critical Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse for night shifts on a PRN basis. The position is paid at $73 per hour for 36 hours and covers patient assessment, care planning, medication administration and patient advocacy.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients thoroughly and continuously, analyze assessment data and develop individualized, evidence-based plans of care aligned with interdisciplinary goals.
• Implement interventions from the plan of care safely and document actions taken.
• Collect and document patient health data systematically and on time.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, following protocols and ensuring patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians and staff, promote timely patient placement and follow hospital policy for admission, discharge and transfer.
• Educate patients and families on conditions, procedures and care plans.
• Participate in peer interviewing and peer review, and contribute to quality, safety and effectiveness initiatives.
• Act as patient advocate, ensure safe handoffs and follow CDC isolation guidelines, PPE use and hand hygiene.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN).
• 2+ years of nursing experience in an acute hospital setting.
• Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Fluent in English (reading, speaking and writing).
• BLS/CPR certification (required); TNCC certification preferred.
• Additional licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the unit or state.

Required skills

• High-level abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions and revise the plan of care.
• Basic computer skills, including navigating Microsoft Windows programs.
