PCU RN Contract Days, 36 Hours

About the role

AdventHealth in Daytona Beach, Florida is hiring a Part-Time Critical Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse for day shifts, working 36 hours per week at $73 per hour. The nurse delivers acute care to critically ill patients, works closely with physicians and other team members, and acts as a patient advocate.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients thoroughly and continuously, analyze assessment data and develop individualized, evidence-based plans of care aligned with interdisciplinary goals.
• Implement interventions from the plan of care safely and document actions taken.
• Collect and document patient health data systematically and on time.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, following protocols and ensuring patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians and staff, promote timely patient placement, and follow hospital policy for admission, discharge and transfer.
• Educate patients and families on their conditions, procedures and care plans.
• Participate in peer interviewing and peer review, and contribute to quality, safety and effectiveness initiatives.
• Follow CDC isolation guidelines, use PPE correctly, perform hand hygiene and ensure safe handoff communication.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN).
• 2+ years of nursing experience in an acute hospital setting.
• Associate's degree in Nursing (required); Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Fluent in English, read, spoken and written.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required; Trauma Nurse Course Certified (TNCC) preferred.
• Additional licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the unit or state.

Required skills

• High-level abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions and revise the plan of care.
• Basic computer skills, including navigating Microsoft Windows programs.
