Payroll Tax Consultant

About the role

The client is looking for an experienced Payroll Tax Consultant to ensure accurate payroll tax processing, compliance, reporting, and reconciliations across multi‑state and international jurisdictions. You will work closely with Payroll, HR, Finance and other teams to keep tax operations audit‑ready and aligned with evolving regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multi‑state and international payroll tax compliance, filings, reporting and reconciliations.
• Process payroll taxes using ADP Workforce Now (WFN), ADP SmartCompliance and Workday.
• Resolve payroll tax issues, agency notices, audits, W‑2/W‑2c corrections and tax adjustments.
• Monitor tax law changes, implement process improvements and maintain audit‑ready documentation.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate and compliant payroll tax operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field (Associate's degree with 5+ years payroll tax experience also considered).
• 5+ years of payroll tax experience in a multi‑state environment.
• Hands‑on experience with ADP Workforce Now, ADP SmartCompliance and Workday.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, local and international payroll tax regulations.
• Experience with payroll tax reconciliations, agency notice resolution and year‑end tax reporting.
• CPP or FPC certification is preferred.
