Payroll & Employee Tax Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Payroll & Employee Tax Manager to lead end‑to‑end payroll operations for 14 U.S. affiliates, covering roughly 2,500 employees and 150 international assignees. The role ensures accurate, timely payroll processing, tax compliance, and effective vendor management across multiple states and industrial sites.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee payroll processing for salaried and hourly staff, including wage and tax calculations for ~$325 million in wages.
• Manage the relationship with the payroll outsourcing provider, reviewing reports, adjustments, and reconciliations.
• Direct all employment‑tax obligations, including filing Forms 941, W‑2, W‑2c, and 940, and handling multi‑state filings.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and maintain internal controls and audit trails.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance to keep employee data accurate and generate payroll reports for management and audit purposes.
• Lead and develop the internal payroll team, handling employee inquiries and providing policy education.
• Identify and implement process improvements, system upgrades, and automation initiatives to streamline payroll operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a numerate discipline or related field.
• 10–15 years of payroll operations and tax compliance experience.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
• Extensive experience managing payroll for large, multi‑state organizations.
