Payroll Analyst

About the role

The Washington Elementary School District 6 is seeking a Payroll Analyst to join its Payroll department. This position is responsible for processing bi‑weekly payroll, ensuring compliance with federal and state tax regulations, and providing accurate payroll information to employees and supervisors.

Key responsibilities

• Process and review bi‑weekly payroll for all district employees.
• Prepare and reconcile reports such as bank reconciliations and quarterly tax filings.
• Maintain payroll‑related records, including employee classifications, dependent status, and leave balances.
• Respond to employee, supervisor, and external inquiries regarding payroll matters.
• Generate and implement queries for deductions, court orders, and other special payroll requests.
• Act as backup for the Payroll Manager to ensure uninterrupted payroll processing.
• Research and submit employee histories for salary verification.
• Participate in seminars and share updates on payroll procedures with the team.
• Collaborate with IT and other departments to resolve system integration issues.
• Perform pre‑ and post‑payroll audit functions.

Required profile

• Strong analytical and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Excellent knowledge of federal and state payroll tax laws.
• Detail‑oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
• Effective communication skills for responding to inquiries.
• Ability to work independently and as a backup for the Payroll Manager.
