Payments Manager – Lead Credit Union Payments Strategy

About the role

The Director of Payments will shape the strategic direction, operational quality, and innovation of the credit union’s payments ecosystem, covering card services, ACH, wires, digital and real‑time payments, and emerging fintech integrations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a payments strategy aligned with business goals and member needs.
• Oversee all payments operations including card programs, ACH, wire transfers, bill pay, mobile/digital payments, P2P, and merchant services.
• Maintain strong controls to comply with NACHA, Reg E, Reg Z, PCI DSS, and FFIEC guidelines.
• Lead and develop the payments team, fostering accountability and innovation.
• Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure SLA and security compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems or related field; MBA preferred.
• Minimum five years of financial‑services payments experience, with at least two years in a leadership role.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. payments landscape – card networks, ACH, RTP, Zelle, FedNow, digital wallets.
• Proven track record in vendor management, strategic planning, and regulatory compliance.

Required skills

• NACHA, Reg E, Reg Z, PCI DSS, FFIEC compliance expertise.
• Experience with Jack Henry Symitar, Velera/PSCU, Fiserv Debit, EPN/The Clearing House, Alloya.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and project‑management abilities.
