Patient Representative – Orthopaedics Clinic (Northwest AR)

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a dedicated Patient Representative for its Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine clinic in Northwest Arkansas. The role involves counseling patients on financial responsibilities, processing high‑risk pre‑certifications, and supporting revenue‑cycle functions while delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide front‑desk customer service, greet patients, resolve conflicts, and maintain confidentiality.
• Manage check‑in/out and scheduling, pre‑register patients, create charts, and coordinate surgery and test appointments.
• Verify insurance, complete ABNs, obtain authorizations and pre‑certifications, and track referrals.
• Collect payments, issue receipts, reconcile daily deposits, and counsel patients on financial balances.
• Enter and reconcile daily charges, generate denial‑avoidance reports, and maintain care‑plan statistics.
• Attend training, staff meetings, and complete annual skill assessments.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED plus four years of experience in customer service, call center, business office administration, registration, billing, insurance, or scheduling.
• Ability to follow oral instructions, read and write effectively.
• Basic computer and keyboard proficiency, telephone etiquette, and familiarity with office equipment such as printers and scanners.
• Excellent customer service skills.
