Patient Relations Representative

About the role

The Patient Relations Representative serves as a liaison between patients, medical staff, and managed‑care plans, ensuring smooth access to care and resolving complex eligibility, billing, and scheduling issues. This role leads lower‑level patient resources workers and supports the delivery of high‑quality, compassionate care across Los Angeles County.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and resolve complex patient issues related to primary‑care linkage, eligibility, billing, and managed‑care plan assignments.
• Research errors, respond to member questions, and coordinate with hospitals, physicians, insurance companies, and Medi‑Cal eligibility workers.
• Schedule patient visits, maintain appointment templates, and verify eligibility to financially clear patients for appointments.
• Provide technical assistance and training to lower‑level personnel and manage patient information across multiple medical plan systems.
• Process applications for reduced‑cost programs such as Ability to Pay, Ryan White, and Family PACT.
• Prepare regular patient service and activity reports for management review.

Required profile

• Option I: Minimum two years of experience as a Patient Resources Worker for Los Angeles County.
• Option II: Minimum three years of comparable patient‑access experience in a healthcare setting, including emergency department or urgent‑care registration.
• Valid California Class C driver’s license or alternative transportation method.
• Physical Class II – Light (occasional lifting up to 10 lb, ambulation).
