Patient Registration Representative

About the role

R1 RCM is recruiting an on-site Patient Registration Representative for Ascension St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore. The role is the first point of contact for patients, helping them get fast, compassionate and accurate access to care. It is described as a frontline healthcare customer service position, and training is provided even if there is no healthcare background.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients and families with the check-in process and register patients using multiple computer systems
• Answer phones and gather accurate patient information quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Navigate diverse insurance plans and coverage details, enter demographics and medical data, collect co-pays and give cost estimates where applicable
• Minimise delays in registration so patients can access care promptly
• Work with nurses, physicians and care teams to keep patient flow smooth

Required profile

• Exceptional customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong composure and professionalism in a fast-paced setting, with good multitasking and attention to detail
• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to pass a background check, drug test and meet vaccination requirements
• Experience with patient access, medical registration, insurance verification or front desk is a plus but not required
