Financial Counseling Representative

About the role

R1 RCM Inc., a provider of technology-driven revenue cycle solutions for hospitals, health systems and medical groups, is hiring a Financial Counseling Representative for its Ascension St. Agnes Hospital site in Baltimore, MD. The role is on-site, Monday to Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm, and supports patients through insurance coverage, financial responsibility and payment solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Help patients understand insurance benefits and out-of-pocket costs
• Meet with patients to discuss payment options and financial assistance programs
• Verify insurance eligibility and explain benefits clearly
• Assist with Medicaid and financial assistance applications
• Build trust with patients during stressful financial situations
• Collaborate with care teams and revenue cycle departments
• Maintain accurate documentation across multiple systems

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED
• Exceptional customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
• Compassion, empathy and patience when supporting patients and clients
• Ability to explain financial and insurance concepts clearly
• Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly with high attention to detail
• Professionalism in sensitive financial conversations

What we offer

• Base pay of $18.59 to $25.44 per hour, depending on role, level, location, experience and education
