Patient Registration Representative

About the role

R1 provides technology-driven solutions that improve the patient experience and financial performance of hospitals, health systems and medical groups. As a Patient Registration Representative at Ascension St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, you will be the first point of contact for patients, helping them get fast, compassionate and accurate access to care. The shift is Sunday to Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with Wednesday 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients and families with the check-in process, working across multiple computer systems to register patients efficiently
• Answer phones and gather accurate patient information quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Navigate diverse insurance plans and coverage details, enter demographics and medical data, collect co-pays and provide cost estimates when applicable
• Minimize delays in registration so patients can access care on time
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians and care teams to ensure smooth patient flow

Required profile

• Exceptional customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong composure and professionalism in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly, with high attention to detail
• Comfortable shifting priorities based on patient needs
• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to pass a background check, drug test and meet vaccination requirements
• Experience with patient access, medical registration, insurance verification or front desk is a plus but not required; training is provided

• Base pay of $16.12 - $23.21 per hour, depending on role, level, location, experience and education
