Patient Account Representative II

About the role
The Patient Account Representative II works within the Business Office to manage patient accounts, ensuring accurate and timely processing in accordance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Collection Supervisor in identifying and resolving account issues.
- Interpret and apply state, federal, HIPAA, HCFA, TennCare, and third‑party payer guidelines.
- Provide training and support to Level I staff on complex issues.
- Maintain departmental quality standards with audit accuracy of 95% or higher.
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other stakeholders.
Required profile
- 2‑3 years of healthcare experience, including familiarity with insurance plans and collection practices.
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- No current disciplinary action as a Level I representative.
Required skills
- Computer proficiency.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and claims submission.
- Understanding of Fair Debt Collection Act and related regulations.
