Patient Access Representative – Full‑Time (On‑Site)

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a full‑time Patient Access Representative 2 to join its Clinical Access team. In this on‑site position you will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring accurate registration, insurance verification, and financial clearance for clinical services.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain, confirm, and enter demographic, financial, and clinical information for patient accounts.
• Contact patients’ families or physicians’ offices to gather missing insurance details.
• Verify insurance eligibility and notify patients and referring physicians of any issues.
• Collaborate with scheduling departments to add‑on patients and secure necessary authorizations, pre‑certifications, and referrals.
• Inform patients of financial liabilities, collect payments, and maintain accurate records.
• Adhere to university policies and safeguard institutional assets.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in patient access, registration, or related administrative roles.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
