Patient Access Representative – Full‑time (On‑Site) – Ft Lauderdale

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Clinical Access is seeking a full‑time Patient Access Representative 1 to join its Ft Lauderdale team. In this on‑site position you will be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring accurate registration, insurance verification, and a smooth entry into clinical services.

Key responsibilities

• Register patients for in‑person and virtual visits, collecting demographic, insurance, and financial information.
• Verify insurance benefits, obtain copies of cards and referrals, and explain consent, financial liability, and HIPAA forms.
• Schedule, modify, or cancel appointments and accurately record no‑shows.
• Reconcile vouchers and deliver them to the appropriate department.
• Answer telephone inquiries, triage calls, and provide information or transfer as needed.
• Assist patients with self‑service tools such as MyChart and check‑in kiosks.
• Coordinate patient flow to ensure timely check‑in and hand‑off to clinical areas.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate patient records.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients of all ages and the healthcare team.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and follow university policies and HIPAA regulations.
• Customer‑focused attitude with a welcoming professional demeanor.

Required skills

• Proficiency with EPIC MyChart.
• Experience using Grand Central ADT, Cadence, Prelude, Radiant, OP Time, Care Everywhere, Resolute, Nice inContact Communication, and Aria Oncology systems.
