Patient Access Representative 3 – Full Time

About the role

The University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a full‑time Patient Access Representative 3 to manage registration and financial clearance activities for scheduled patient accounts. This on‑site position ensures accurate reimbursement and serves as a functional expert for peers.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain, confirm, and enter demographic, financial, and clinical information needed for financial clearance.
• Contact patients’ families or physicians’ offices to gather missing insurance details.
• Verify insurance eligibility and notify patients and referring physicians of any issues.
• Collaborate with scheduling departments to identify add‑on patients and secure necessary authorizations, pre‑certifications, and referrals.
• Notify patients of liabilities before service dates and collect funds.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in the system of record.
• Serve as a lead resource for lower‑level Patient Access Representatives and recommend performance improvements.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in patient access or revenue cycle functions.
• Ability to process confidential information with discretion and work independently or collaboratively.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in completing assignments.
