Patient Access Manager

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Clinical Access is seeking a full‑time Patient Access Manager to oversee the smooth entry of patients into departmental services, ensure accurate data handling, and guarantee proper payment collection.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, supervise, train, and discipline staff while preparing performance reports.
• Manage daily registration activities, ensuring timely patient entry, accurate biographical and financial data entry, and proper payment collection.
• Verify insurance information and ensure correct documentation is placed in patient charts before clinic dates.
• Maintain 24‑hour staffing levels and serve as the department expert on registration, insurance verification, and documentation guidelines.
• Assist in developing and implementing the annual budget and collaborate with senior leadership on strategy, operational initiatives, and policy development.
• Monitor compliance with university policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements, providing staff training as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in healthcare administration or a similar setting.
• Strong knowledge of business and management principles.
• Proven ability to direct, manage, evaluate department operations, set goals, and align them with strategic plans.
• Effective planning, delegation, supervision, and leadership skills.
