Party Planner (Part-Time)

About the role

The American Girl Retail team runs experiential stores in Los Angeles, from salons and restaurants to personal shopping and party celebrations. This part-time Party Planner supports in-store parties and events, working with customers, food vendors and store leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Provide party services, answer questions and communicate with party customers by phone, demonstrating doll hair and skin care techniques and resolving customer problems.
• Give store leadership party updates such as food selection and number of attendees, and work with food vendors to place accurate, timely orders.
• Work with the reservation system to respond to guests within 48 hours and create party contracts based on guest input.
• Help create a fair work schedule for the party team and place daily and weekly product orders and maintain inventory.
• Set up a pleasant ambiance in dining and party rooms with lighting, music and table placement.
• Complete FOH and BOH tasks, including making and serving food and beverages, bussing, cleaning and restocking, and assisting with storewide events.
• Follow food safety (labeling, storage, FIFO, temperature, cross-contamination) and workplace safety (knife handling, gloves, equipment use) guidelines, and know local and state health sanitation laws.
• Handle Infogenesis and POS transactions (sales, voids, comps, opening and closing) and follow company policies and the dress code.

Required profile

• High school degree; undergraduate education preferred.
• Serve Safe certification preferred.
• One to two years of experience in a high-volume, fine-casual dining or related restaurant preferred.
• At least 6 months of work experience in customer relations, parties or events.
• Ability to run games, crafts and style doll hair; previous experience with children is a plus.
• Good verbal communication skills and a warm, friendly demeanor; public speaking enjoyed.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of Infogenesis and POS register systems.
• Ability to execute games, crafts and doll hair styling.
