Part‑Time Research Laboratory Technician – Chemistry

About the role

The University of Miami’s Department of Chemistry seeks a part‑time Research Laboratory Technician to support routine laboratory operations and assist with ongoing research projects in Coral Gables, FL.

Key responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize, and operate laboratory equipment, including dishwashers, autoclaves, balances, and pH meters.
• Prepare buffers, culture cells under sterile conditions, and perform simple experimental steps.
• Maintain inventory of supplies, place orders, and ensure timely restocking.
• Record research data, prepare experiment reports, and assist in data analysis.
• Proofread and help draft manuscripts, grant proposals, and lab protocols.
• Follow university policies and safeguard assets.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of relevant laboratory experience.
• Ability to learn new procedures and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork and clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with standard office software and computer applications.
