Part‑Time Patient Navigator

About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a part‑time Patient Navigator to support patients at the Sylvester Cancer Center. In this role you will help patients overcome barriers to care, coordinate treatment plans and ensure timely follow‑up.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct patient evaluations to gather information for treatment planning.
• Assist patients in accessing insurance and eligible social service programs.
• Provide appointment reminders and act as liaison between patients and providers.
• Identify and resolve real or perceived barriers to care.
• Educate and counsel patients on health‑related and personal issues.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of community health and welfare resources.
• Handle patient communications, obtain medical records, and address care gaps with the nurse navigator.
• Prepare, track, and process medical records and pathology specimens, ensuring confidentiality.
• Provide administrative support such as answering phones, copying, faxing, and mailing records.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year relevant experience.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Professional composure in stressful situations.
• Effective interpersonal relationship skills.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately.
