About the role
The Nassau County Police Department is hiring part‑time crossing guards to ensure the safety of pedestrians, especially school children, at designated crossings throughout Nassau County. This role involves directing traffic and protecting pedestrians during school‑related crossing periods.
Key responsibilities
- Control pedestrian and vehicular traffic at school or other specified crossings.
- Maintain order and safety for children and other pedestrians.
- Remain on‑site for the entire assigned crossing period.
- Operate effectively in all weather conditions.
Required profile
- Resident of Nassau County.
- Ability to speak and understand English clearly.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Own reliable transportation to reach assigned locations.
- Meet basic medical and physical fitness standards.
