Part‑time Academic Math Tutor

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a part‑time Academic Tutor to provide mathematics support to students in Griffin. This position offers flexible hours and the chance to make a direct impact on learner success.

Key responsibilities

• Develop tutoring materials, set goals and objectives, and track student progress.
• Tutor individuals or small groups, applying effective learning strategies.
• Prepare and maintain required documentation and administrative reports.
• Maintain a positive, encouraging attitude toward students.
• Report directly to the Coordinator of Tutoring and Mentoring.

Required profile

• Current technical college student with a minimum 3.0 GPA overall and in the subject area, or an external applicant with demonstrated ability in mathematics.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from a regionally accredited institution.
• Understanding of student learning strategies and experience in teaching or tutoring.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and basic computer proficiency.

Required skills

• Blackboard (experience is a plus).
