Part-Time Security Officer - State Run Facility

About the role

Allied Universal, a security and facility services company, is hiring a part-time Security Officer for a state-run facility in Meriden, CT. The role is an unarmed patrol position at a government location, serving clients across industries such as government. Officers monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to deter incidents, support access control and provide customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees and agency personnel while carrying out site-specific security procedures, policies and emergency response activities at government facilities.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, parking areas and perimeter locations, reporting unusual conditions and maintenance concerns.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, assisting with entry screening, directions and credential verification as assigned.
• Respond calmly to incidents, alarms and critical situations, notifying the right people and documenting actions taken.
• Complete accurate activity logs, incident reports and patrol documentation, and share observations with supervisors and site contacts.

Required profile

• At least 18 years of age for unarmed roles (21+ for armed roles).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to a background investigation and a drug screen to the extent permitted by law; licensing requirements may be needed before employment.

Preferred qualifications

• Access control and badge experience.
• A state, county or city-issued security-related license.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Customer service experience.
