Part-Time Phlebotomist

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a part-time Phlebotomist for its Redmond facility. The role covers venipuncture and microtainer collection, specimen handling and coordination of the phlebotomy workflow, with mentorship of new staff and students.

Key responsibilities

• Transport hazardous waste to a secure storage area after completing the required training, following the Chemical Hygiene plan and infection control policies.
• Assist with department orientation and train laboratory staff and students; mentor new employees and ensure competency documentation is completed.
• Troubleshoot phlebotomy service concerns and coordinate daily workload assignments.
• Prioritize routine specimen receipt on a first-in-first-out basis, with stat and alert specimens first.
• Perform venipuncture and microtainer collection accurately and efficiently, label specimens correctly and follow safety policies including PPE and handwashing.
• Support leadership with daily workflow and problem resolution.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent; technical/vocational school preferred.
• Phlebotomy training program preferred; phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, and to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Conversational English, basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• BLS/CPR certification preferred; phlebotomy technician certification preferred.

• Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, blood bank and microbiology analyzers, centrifuges and phlebotomy chairs
• Use of computers, telephone, fax, copier and printers

Pay range: $15.58 - $24.93.
