Part-Time Patient Customer Service Representative

About the role

R1 RCM Inc. is a revenue cycle technology company that helps hospitals, health systems and medical groups improve financial performance and the patient experience. As a Part-Time Patient Customer Service Representative (PRN, as needed) at Ascension St. Vincent Jennings, you will help patients check into the hospital and answer questions during registration. No previous healthcare experience is required; training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Work on computers and answer phones to collect patient and insurance information in a busy environment
• Enter data accurately and quickly across multiple screens, between physician and nurse check-ins
• Listen empathetically to anxious or very ill patients, ask follow-up questions and build rapport
• Stand and move around while helping patients complete registration, working quickly and handling interruptions from clinicians

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• Excellent customer service experience
• Up to date on all vaccinations, passes a drug test and a background check before hire
• Comfortable seeing illness and injuries in a hospital setting
• Preferred: medical experience

• Typing and answering phones
• Quick study of technology and ability to work across multiple programs
