Part-Time Patient Customer Service Representative

About the role

R1 is a revenue cycle technology company that helps hospitals, health systems and medical groups improve financial performance and patient experience. It is hiring a Patient Registration Customer Service Representative for Ascension St. Vincent Mercy in Elwood, Ohio. The role is part-time, PRN as needed, with a minimum of 48 hours a month and 24 hours on call; additional shifts are available. Training is provided, so no healthcare background is required.

Key responsibilities

• Register patients efficiently using multiple computer systems
• Answer phones and gather information quickly and accurately
• Help patients navigate the registration process and answer questions with confidence and compassion
• Assist patients who may be ill, anxious or confused
• Navigate diverse insurance plans and coverage details (with training)
• Adapt to interruptions from clinical teams during urgent care situations
• Build rapport and ease patient concerns in real time

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong customer service experience
• Able to pass a background check, drug test and meet vaccination requirements
• Preferred: medical or healthcare experience (not required)
