Customer Service Representative - Patient Registration

About the role

R1 is looking for a Patient Registration Customer Service Representative to work at Ascension St. Vincent Mercy in Elwood. As the first point of contact for patients checking into the hospital, you will help them navigate the registration process, answer questions and gather accurate information quickly in a fast-paced environment. The shift is PRN, with a minimum of 48 hours a month and 24 hours on call, and additional shifts available. No healthcare background is required; full training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Register patients efficiently using multiple computer systems
• Answer phones and gather information quickly and accurately
• Assist patients who may be ill, anxious or confused
• Navigate diverse insurance plans and coverage details (with training)
• Adapt to interruptions from clinical teams during urgent care situations
• Build rapport and ease patient concerns in real time

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong customer service experience
• Able to pass a background check, drug test and meet vaccination requirements
• Preferred: medical or healthcare experience (not required)
