Part-Time Patient Access Representative (PRN)

About the role

R1 RCM Inc., a provider of revenue cycle technology for hospitals, health systems and medical groups, is hiring a part-time, as-needed Patient Access Representative in Cedar Park. You will be the first point of contact for patients, helping them get fast, accurate access to care. The schedule is PRN with a minimum of 48 hours a month and 24 hours on call. No healthcare background is required, as comprehensive training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Assist patients and families with the check-in process using multiple computer systems to register patients efficiently
• Answer phones and gather accurate patient information quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Navigate insurance plans and coverage details, enter demographics and medical data, collect co-pays and give cost estimates when applicable
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians and care teams to keep patient flow smooth
• Provide calm, compassionate support to patients who may be anxious, ill or overwhelmed

Required profile

• Exceptional customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong composure and professionalism in a fast-paced setting
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and shift priorities based on patient needs
• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to pass a background check, drug test and meet vaccination requirements
• Experience with patient access, medical registration, insurance verification or front desk is a plus
