Part-Time Patient Access Representative

About the role

R1 RCM Inc., a provider of technology-driven revenue cycle solutions for hospitals, health systems and medical groups, is hiring a part-time Patient Access Representative at Ascension Seton Southwest Hospital in Austin. The role is the first point of contact for patients, helping them get fast, accurate access to care. It is PRN, with a minimum of 48 hours a month and 24 hours on call, and full training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for patients, answering phones and handling computer-based check-ins
• Register patients efficiently across multiple systems and enter demographics and medical data
• Navigate insurance plans and coverage, collect co-pays and give cost estimates when applicable
• Provide calm, compassionate support to patients who may be anxious, ill or overwhelmed
• Minimise delays in registration so timely access to care is possible
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians and care teams to keep patient flow smooth

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED
• Exceptional customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong composure and professionalism in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to multitask, prioritise and shift priorities based on patient needs
• Background in patient access, medical registration, insurance verification or front desk is a plus but not required
• Must pass a background check, drug test and meet vaccination requirements
