About the role

iHeartMedia is hiring a part-time on-air talent for its Power 105.1 station in New York. The host creates, produces and announces topics on the radio, including music, entertainment, politics, news, weather, sports and traffic, and typically specializes in one type of music.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver newscasts, announce the radio playlist, give weather and traffic conditions, and deliver sport scores and statistics
• Comment on music and other topics of interest to the audience and interview musical personalities and listeners
• Write, review and edit news copy, introductions, public service announcements, commercials, pre-recorded reports and contests
• Take part in promotional events and handle emergency inserts such as news updates and breaking stories
• May operate the control board for studios and remote programming, regulate program timing, run syndicated programming and play commercials
• May monitor broadcast quality, check studio equipment, censor live programs to protect the station's license and process time-out programming
• May directly sell advertising space to advertisers

Required profile

• 1-2 years' experience as an announcer in a smaller market or college station environment
• 4-year college degree, preferably in Communications or Broadcast Journalism
• Pleasant, charismatic voice with excellent pronunciation and well-rounded communication skills for interviews
• Excellent writing and editing skills and proficiency in media production and broadcast systems
• Selling skills and possibly another language such as Spanish may be required
