Part-Time Lecturer – Simulation Hospital (School of Nursing & Health Studies)

About the role

The University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies is expanding its Simulation Hospital program and seeks qualified physicians to join a per‑diem pool of instructors. This part‑time position involves delivering didactic and simulation‑based courses to nursing, health‑science and clinical professional students.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in course development, curriculum review and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Deliver didactic lectures and hands‑on simulation instruction.
• Assess participant performance and provide feedback.
• Ensure compliance with continuing‑education and accreditation requirements.
• Maintain required instructor certifications (e.g., ACLS).
• Prepare lesson plans, administer tests, and monitor student progress.
• Communicate course objectives, requirements and updates to students.
• Adhere to university policies and safeguard institutional assets.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited school or foreign equivalent.
• Current medical licensure preferred.
• Certification in a relevant specialty (e.g., emergency medicine, internal medicine, neurology, anesthesiology, ultrasound).
• Clinical experience in the above areas.
• Prior experience in clinical, didactic or simulation teaching is desired.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Proficiency in ultrasound sonography.
• Experience with simulation‑based instructional technology.
