Part-Time ICU Registered Nurse

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a part-time Registered Nurse for its Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. The nurse provides day-shift care, working alongside medical staff and ancillary departments to deliver safe, coordinated care to patients.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual and lifestyle factors.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, reviewing and revising them regularly.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Educate patients and families about their conditions, treatments, medications and self-care strategies.
• Collaborate with medical staff and other departments to coordinate and optimize patient care.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required; additional licensure or certification may apply depending on the unit or state.
• Associate's degree in Nursing required.
• 1+ year of experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
• Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures, and ability to work as a team player within a unit.

Required skills

• Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Effective verbal and oral communication and problem-solving skills.
• EKG interpretation (based on patient needs).
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required.
