Part-Time Direct Support Professional – Home & Community Based

About the role

From going shopping, playing basketball in the park, helping make dinner, or going to an amusement park, no two days are the same at Springbrook! As a Direct Support Professional you’ll be part of a team that has provided quality supports for over 95 years to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Be a good role model and advocate for the person(s) you support in all situations and settings.
• Be punctual and dependable; regular staff attendance is vital.
• Partner with the person(s) to observe, discuss, and help assess strengths and opportunities to develop personal goals.
• Provide personal care tasks such as showering and restroom assistance, as appropriate to the individual’s needs.
• Encourage participation in community, recreational, spiritual activities and help them make friends.
• Follow written plans, complete required billing documentation and attend team meetings.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with people with developmental disabilities is preferred.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift 50 lb independently and assist with heavier loads.
• Valid driver’s license and meet vehicle driving requirements.
• Ability to perform physical interventions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
• Ability to use a variety of computer software and email applications.
