Part-Time Cook - Shreveport Convention Center

About the role

ASM Global, which manages public assembly facilities, is hiring a part-time Cook for the Shreveport Convention Center/Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana. The cook reports to the Executive Chef and Sous Chef and works on an on-call schedule with no guaranteed weekly hours.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare hot and cold food to order and food for banquet orders and large groups, following standardized recipes and the exact quantities ordered.
• Follow food safety, sanitation and handling procedures, including ServSafe and Health Department regulations, temperature danger zones and FIFO rotation.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as knives, grills, flat tops and fryers safely, and distribute food to concession staff.
• Keep work areas clean, organized and sanitary, and maintain a sanitizer bucket at proper dilution.
• Assist with opening and closing inventory counts and request inventory refills.
• Work long and irregular hours, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays, with flexible scheduling.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 3 years in a multi-purpose, high-volume operation, or similar experience.
• Ability to read and interpret recipes, prep lists and safety documents; intermediate knife and cooking skills.
• Reliable transportation and ability to work long, irregular hours.
• Non-slip shoes required; must pass a background check and comply with health codes.
