Part-Time Cook - Convention Center

About the role

ASM Global, which manages public assembly facilities, is hiring a part-time Cook for the Shreveport Convention Center/Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana. The cook reports to the Executive Chef and Sous Chef and works on an on-call schedule with no guaranteed weekly hours.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare hot and cold food to order and food for banquet orders and large groups, following standardized recipes
• Cook the exact number of items ordered, working on several orders at once, and distribute food to the concession cashier/attendant
• Follow food safety, sanitation and handling procedures, including ServSafe and Health Department regulations, temperature danger zones and FIFO rotation
• Maintain a sanitizer bucket at proper dilution, keep work areas clean and organized, and clean the workstation at the end of each shift
• Store and handle raw and cooked foods and non-food supplies safely, and assist with opening and closing inventory counts
• Operate kitchen equipment such as knives, grills, flat tops and fryers according to safety instructions, and request inventory refills as needed

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• At least 3 years in a multi-purpose, high-volume operation or similar
• Ability to read and interpret recipes, prep lists and safety documents
• Ability to work long and irregular hours, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays
• Reliable transportation and ability to pass a background check
• Non-slip shoes required
