Part-Time Cook - Convention Center

About the role

ASM Global, which manages public assembly facilities, is hiring a part-time Cook for the Shreveport Convention Center/Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana. The cook reports to the Executive Chef and Sous Chef and works on an on-call schedule with no guaranteed weekly hours.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare hot and cold food to order and food for banquet orders and large groups, following standardized recipes
• Cook the exact number of items ordered, working on several orders at once, and distribute food to the concession cashier/attendant
• Follow food safety, sanitation and ServSafe regulations, including temperature danger zones, FIFO rotation and proper labeling and dating of products
• Maintain a sanitized workspace, keep the station clean at the end of each shift and request inventory refills
• Open and close inventory counts, store raw and cooked foods and non-food supplies safely, and operate kitchen equipment such as knives, grills, flat tops and fryers
• Work long and irregular hours, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays, and adapt to changing schedules

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• At least 3 years in a multi-purpose, high-volume operation
• Age 18 or older, able to pass a background check and comply with health codes
• Reliable transportation and ability to work long, irregular hours
• Non-slip shoes required

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting recipes and prep lists, and creating recipes
• Intermediate knife and cooking skills
