Part-time Adult Career Teacher – Health IT & Medical Billing

About the role

The Buffalo Public Schools Adult Career and Community Education Program seeks a part‑time, hourly instructor to teach Health Information Technology with a focus on office and medical billing. Classes run 3.5 hours in the morning, afternoon or evening at various city locations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality instruction to adult learners daily.
• Develop lesson plans that follow curriculum and program guidelines.
• Implement engaging instructional activities and assess student progress.
• Maintain accurate attendance and performance records in the district database.
• Communicate regularly with students and provide feedback.
• Participate in optional professional development and training opportunities.

Required profile

• Current, verifiable experience in Health Information Technology, medical office, or medical billing.
• Familiarity with medical billing software is mandatory.
• Preference for candidates with at least three years of field experience and prior adult‑education experience.
• Applicants may pursue a New York State Adult Education Certificate and must provide proof of Child Abuse Reporting, SAVE, and DASA workshop completion if seeking certification.
