About the role
The City of Los Angeles is seeking dedicated Park Rangers to provide public assistance, ensure safety, and promote environmental education across city parks, beaches, and recreational facilities.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver first aid, crowd and traffic control, firefighting, and search‑and‑rescue services.
- Patrol parks, beaches, and other city facilities to maintain security and enforce municipal regulations.
- Interpret and enforce City, Municipal, and Penal Code sections related to park use.
- Develop and present interpretive nature and environmental programs for visitors.
- Maintain radio communication with ranger units and coordinate emergency response.
Required profile
- U.S. citizenship or an application for citizenship submitted before the application date.
- Graduation from an accredited four‑year college with a major in Park Administration, Recreation, Botany, Zoology, Biology, Fire Science, Criminal Justice, or a related natural, social, or behavioral science.
- Valid Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record (no more than two moving violations or at‑fault accidents in the past 36 months).
- Experience may substitute for education on a year‑for‑year basis in law enforcement, park protection, security, firefighting, EMT, or lifeguarding.

- Annual salary range from $78,467 to $96,194 (starting salary at the low end of the range).
