Paralegal (USAO)

About the role

CACI is hiring a full-time Paralegal (USAO) in Springfield, working under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor. The role supports teams of USAO attorneys with litigation support tasks ranging from basic document preparation and filing to redaction, research, witness interviews, depositions, trial preparation and in-courtroom assistance. Travel is local, up to 10%, and the position requires DOJ MBI clearance.

Key responsibilities

• Compile, prepare and summarize materials for attorneys' discovery, motions, briefs and other legal documents, and summarize depositions and transcripts
• Maintain case files and perform simple legal research
• Index, track and control document discovery, and index, track and exhibit materials at depositions and trial
• Prepare exhibit cross-references and assist attorneys in the courtroom
• Review documents for relevance and privilege per established guidelines
• Support work such as FOIA compilations, production requests and Congressional inquiries

Required profile

• Paralegal certificate, JD, or enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school (at least one year of study)
• One year of legal training or experience, or two years of college education, may substitute for the certificate
• At least one year of litigation paralegal or project experience; trial experience very helpful
• Basic legal knowledge, including standard legal citation, and experience with LEXIS and Westlaw
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure
• US citizenship required; DOJ MBI must be obtainable

Required skills

• Word processing, databases (document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging and hardware systems
• Basic familiarity with ESI tools and eDiscovery procedures
