Panel Technician

About the role

Electro-Matic, a SunSource company, supplies automation components and solutions to U.S. manufacturers and develops practical applications for industrial, commercial and retail markets. It is hiring a Panel Technician for an indoor warehouse setting with moderate noise, where employees may interact with customers, sales representatives and internal departments. Travel may be required.

Key responsibilities

• Install electrical wiring and assemble components in control cabinets and industrial equipment according to blueprints and wiring diagrams.
• Square, align and assemble enclosures, back plates and components; drill and tap mounting holes and install mounting hardware.
• Lay out wiring and electrical installations per wiring specifications and schematics.
• Wire assemblies such as control panels, lighting fixtures, door switches and field wiring; cut, strip, bend and form wire and conduit; terminate and secure conductors (soldering, crimping, connectors).
• Attach breakers, relays, contacts, bus bars, transformers, insulators, meters, plug devices and fuse blocks.
• Install fans, filters and other accessories, and assemble mechanical and electromechanical machinery from drawings, BOMs and work orders.
• Install motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics, sensors and safety devices.
• Wire control panels and integrate PLCs, HMIs, drives and field devices per schematics and standards.
• Perform initial start-up, machine calibration and on-site commissioning, testing performance against acceptance criteria and recommending improvements.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical and control-system faults in shop and field, and carry out preventive maintenance, upgrades and retrofits.
• Respond to emergency service calls, document service activities and spare parts in service reports and CMMS, and train customers and operators on safe machine operation and basic maintenance.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace, comply with safety policies, and coordinate with engineering, manufacturing and customer service.
• May act as Team Lead, disseminating jobs, approving timecards and performing related supervisory tasks.

Required profile

• Able to sit at a desk for extended periods and use arms, hands and fingers to handle items.
• Able to crouch, crawl, stoop or kneel frequently and lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to listen to and talk with staff and customers.
