Overnight Stocking Department Lead

About the role

Meijer is hiring an Overnight Stocking Department Lead in Cascade, Grand Rapids. The role provides direction on operations, processes and conditions of the area, plans and guides team members in day-to-day department work, and sets an example through an exceptional customer experience. It also leads ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing and product display.

Key responsibilities

• Engage peers to deliver the best possible shopping experience, including an exceptional checkout experience.
• Communicate with team members and assign daily work tasks.
• Mentor and coach team members so customer service and sales goals are exceeded, the area meets Meijer standards and required trainings are completed.
• Support training of new team members and cross-training of high-potential talent, giving peer coaching on job responsibilities and standards.
• Work with leadership on department scheduling to improve team engagement, customer service, store sales and profitability.
• Monitor rotation and dating policies to keep products fresh, and guide the team in complying with food safety standards and working safely.
• Lead team members so ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing and product display are completed where applicable.
• Operate a register and handle cash when needed, operate powered equipment where applicable, and take part in period-end inventories where applicable.
• May be required to act in a lead capacity in other departments of the store.

Required profile

• Retail or other customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend and twist while handling product.
