Overnight Stocker

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring an Overnight Stocker in its Grocery department in Kearney. You will join the overnight crew that keeps store shelves full, organized and ready for customers every morning, from unloading trucks and rotating product to stocking shelves and keeping the backroom tidy. The position is hourly, and no prior experience is required because training and support are provided.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and help them find products, including carrying heavy purchases and relaying their feedback to the team
• Unload trucks, open containers, stock shelves, run overstock on risers and rotate product to keep it fresh
• Check for mis-picked items, product outs and wrong deliveries and report issues
• Organize stock efficiently, clean and restock damaged items, and tag shelves with overstock and understock drawers
• Report new or different items to the scanning coordinator and work with teammates to keep the overnight operation smooth
• Follow the dress code, hygiene standards and company policies, and help in other store areas and on special projects

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Up to six months of similar or related experience preferred
• Must be 18 years or older
• Ability to lift, carry, push or pull objects of 100 pounds or more, and to stand and walk on hard surfaces for long periods
• Ability to work in coolers or freezers and with heavy equipment; safety training is provided

Required skills

• Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals and percentages
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate clearly with customers and teammates
• Ability to operate pallet jacks, forklifts or similar equipment where applicable, with certification completed before independent use
