About the role

Gerdau, a steel producer with mills that make steel beams, rebar, flats and merchant bars, is hiring an Outside Logistics Warehouse Attendant in Cartersville, Georgia. The role keeps the shipping area safe and tidy, helps load outbound trucks and rail cars, and works alongside finishing operations. The pay is $76,000 per year, which includes a base hourly rate of $24.64, weekly production bonuses, shift and Sunday premiums, and 354 annual hours of scheduled overtime.

Key responsibilities

• Work safely in a fast-paced shipping environment and follow all plant safety rules.
• Operate overhead cranes, a heavy-duty forklift and a tractor-trailer to move material between warehouses on site (no CDL required).
• Assist in loading outbound truck and rail shipments and help with mill catching production.
• Complete pre-use inspections on equipment and operate a handheld scanner.
• Clean as instructed and perform general housekeeping.
• Inspect finished product per procedure.
• Cross-train on the next promotion-level position and receive higher pay once fully trained and able to fill it in.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED preferred, though not required; candidates without one must pass an entrance exam.
• Ability to work a rotating 12-hour schedule (days, nights and two weekends a month).
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• General math skills, problem-solving and ability to multi-task.

Required skills

• Proficiency in heavy equipment operation.
• Basic computer skills.
